Co. Tyrone offsite construction specialist Western Building Systems has secured more than £33m in new contract wins in the first quarter of 2026, spanning healthcare, residential and education sectors across Britain and Ireland. The performance builds on a 48% increase in sales in the year to April 2025, when turnover rose from £27.64m to £40.86m and pre-tax profit grew from £1.9m to more than £3m.

The Irish News reported that the Coalisland-based firm secured approximately £20m in healthcare contracts and £13m in homes delivery during the first three months of the year, reflecting sustained activity across both public and private sector projects. A further £5m in education contracts was secured, including a post-primary dual campus development at the former St Ronan's School site in Lurgan.

The company's accounts also reveal continued strengthening of its financial position, with retained earnings increasing to £14.22m from £11.98m and shareholders' funds growing to £14.26m at the end of April 2025, up from £12m the previous year.

Recent project completions include a £25m Community Diagnostic Centre at Upton Hospital in Slough and a modular endoscopy unit at Colchester Hospital, both delivered within live clinical environments. These schemes illustrate the firm's capability in technically complex healthcare construction under operational conditions.

The strong first-quarter performance follows a period of capital investment in production capacity, automation and sustainability, including expanded warehousing, automated timber panel manufacturing and the adoption of low-carbon construction technologies aligned with modern methods of construction. An integrated digital management platform has also been implemented to consolidate forecasting, production planning, pipeline management and ESG reporting.
