Longford-based artificial intelligence company Scopey Onsite aims to raise €5m in seed funding later this year to support commercial launch and international expansion of its WhatsApp-based platform that captures construction site communications and converts unstructured data into commercial records for project teams.

Business Post reported that the firm, founded by Jenna Farrell, Mark Keogh, Gillian Laging and Daragh O'Shea in 2022, employs five staff and has raised €623,000 in funding to date. The company uses WhatsApp as a channel for AI agents to extract unstructured information from construction projects and organise it for commercial teams managing contract variations and payment claims.

Farrell said things change constantly on construction projects, with knock-on effects entitling contractors to additional payment or time. She noted that securing payment requires good records, with commercial teams needing to log claims effectively using site communications captured through the platform.

The business originally operated as Scopey before rebranding last year following a strategic pivot to focus specifically on construction sector applications. Farrell explained the original concept addressed scope creep across professional services contracts, but construction companies began reaching out to identify it as a significant issue in their operations.

Farrell said the company went after the market aggressively, prototyping ideas and presenting them to quantity surveyors at construction conferences. She noted feedback was positive, with the platform developed alongside construction companies through paid pilot programmes involving large industry players.

The business is supported by Enterprise Ireland, with Farrell describing the mix of advice and market reach as significant benefits. She confirmed Scopey Onsite is working with Enterprise Ireland teams in Ireland, the UK and Australia, with plans to engage US networks as expansion progresses.
