Egis appoints new managing director to expand UK and Ireland operations
Global engineering consultancy Egis has appointed Francois Basselot as managing director for the UK and Ireland, marking a key step in integrating teams and expanding operations in both countries. Egis is active across 100 countries with a workforce of approximately 19,500 employees.
Basselot, formerly head of Egis’ energy and sustainable cities division across Europe and Africa, brings over a decade of experience in Tier One consultancies across the UK, Ireland, and internationally.
“By combining the fantastic consultancy and engineering skills of our team in both Ireland and the UK, we can more effectively support our clients’ needs on both sides of the Irish sea from water to energy, highways and rail,” Basselot said.
“Our technical heritage is strong across the two countries in transport, water and environment, energy transition including nuclear and the built environment. Integrating such deep technical expertise in this way will benefit clients with access to technical and project management expertise as the UK and Ireland grapple with their own infrastructure challenges.”
The leadership changes also include Claire Davies, formerly Egis UK managing director, now appointed chief operating officer for Egis Europe and Africa. Steve Preece takes the role of managing director for Egis Operations and Maintenance Business in Ireland, overseeing projects including the Dublin Tunnel, 470 km of motorways, and the national mobile road safety camera network.
Egis’ UK expansion includes recent acquisitions in the rail sector, including Overhead Line Engineering Limited in Derby and Thomas & Adamson, enhancing its advisory services and project delivery capabilities.
The company aims to leverage these appointments and acquisitions to strengthen infrastructure delivery and integrated engineering services across both countries.
