Industry NewsCardo Group acquires Scottish building maintenance contractor
Cardiff-based social housing maintenance firm Cardo Group has acquired Trident Maintenance Services, a North Lanarkshire building maintenance, refurbishment and improvement contractor, strengthening the buyer's geographic presence across Scotland and northern England whilst adding technical expertise and regional capacity to its national operations.
Business Sale Report confirmed that Trident Maintenance Services, headquartered in Bellshill with offices across England, employs 124 staff delivering planned maintenance, refurbishment and improvement services to clients across social housing, education, healthcare, custodial and commercial sectors. The company reported turnover of £18.4m (€21.5m) in the year ending 30 March 2025, up from £11.7m (€13.7m) the previous year, whilst more than doubling operating profits from approximately £731,000 (€853,000) to over £1.6m (€1.87m).
Kenny Robson, managing director of Trident Maintenance Services, said the employee-owned business had been built on the principle of investing in motivated and incentivised staff to deliver results. He noted that joining Cardo Group would provide scale and backing to drive sustainable growth whilst expanding capabilities across key market sectors including housing, healthcare and education.
Robson added the transaction would enable Trident to continue investing in its staff whilst preserving the company's culture, values and standards. Directors stated in accounts that the business had gone from strength to strength and was continuing to grow in accordance with development plans, attributing strong performance to relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Liam Bevan, chief executive of Cardo Group, said Trident's people-first culture, strong operational discipline and trusted client relationships align with the group's own values. He noted the acquisition expands national capabilities, particularly in northern England, whilst enhancing offerings across Scotland and supporting long-term strategy of investment in skilled local workforces and supply chains.
