Montgomery, Alabama-based general contractor Caddell Construction has opened its first permanent corporate office in Columbus, Ohio, marking a significant step in the company's geographic expansion strategy after more than three decades of project activity in the state, as reported by Business Alabama. The office is located at Grandview Yard in Columbus and will be led by vice president Justin Spafford.
Mac Caddell, president and CEO of Caddell Construction, said: "Columbus is a market where our people have already built a tremendous foundation. The work is here. The talent is here. The opportunities are here. This office is an investment in the men and women who have helped us grow throughout the region and in the workforce that will help us build what's next as we work toward the long-term success of our employees, clients and strategic partners."
Spafford said: "Columbus continues to attract investment, innovation and opportunity. We wanted to create a workplace where talented people can see themselves building a career that matters for their long-term success. As the construction market continues to evolve, we believe the best projects are delivered by empowered teams with strong local relationships and a shared commitment to excellence and true collective success."
Founded in 1983, Caddell Construction is a privately held general contractor with expertise across government, healthcare, correctional, judicial, higher education and mission-critical facilities. The company has delivered projects across more than 40 US states and internationally, and is consistently ranked among the top US contractors by Engineering News-Record.
Columbus, Ohio has emerged as one of the most active construction markets in the US Midwest. The city's selection as a site for major semiconductor investment, including Intel's $20 billion (€18.4 billion) fab complex in Licking County, has generated substantial downstream demand for general contractors across the region. Data centre, logistics, healthcare and higher education construction have also contributed to sustained project volumes in the Columbus metropolitan area, reinforcing the market conditions Caddell is moving to capture with a permanent local presence.
Ohio's construction sector has benefited from significant federal investment following the passage of the CHIPS and Science Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, both of which have directed capital into semiconductor manufacturing, road, bridge and utility infrastructure programmes that require experienced general contractors at scale.
