Breedon Group, a vertically integrated construction materials producer operating across Great Britain, Ireland and the United States, has reopened Aghamore Quarry in County Sligo following planning permission approval, strengthening supply capacity for infrastructure, residential and commercial projects across northwest Ireland.

Agg-Net reported that the facility becomes Breedon's 10th active quarry in Ireland, marking continued expansion since the company entered the Irish quarrying market in 2015. The reopening supports the group's strategic objective to establish a fully integrated, nationwide aggregates and construction materials platform across the country.

Fraser Thom, managing director for quarries and concrete at Breedon, said the Aghamore reopening represents a key milestone in the company's ongoing investment strategy across Ireland. He noted the facility aligns with Breedon's vertically integrated model and strengthens the ability to service customers with high-quality, locally sourced materials.

Thom added that the development reinforces commitment to supporting regional growth, sustainable operations, employment and infrastructure development. The quarry will expand capacity to supply aggregates, asphalt, concrete blocks and ready-mix concrete to customers across the region.

Breedon entered the Irish market in 2018 and has since executed an expansion strategy strengthening operational capabilities, geographic reach and long-term supply resilience. The additional northwest capacity will help ensure continuity of supply for key projects throughout the region as construction activity continues across multiple sectors.

The quarry reopening comes as demand for construction materials remains sustained across Ireland, with infrastructure investment, residential development and commercial building activity driving requirements for locally sourced aggregates and related products in regional markets.
