Global engineering and advisory firm AESG has launched a dedicated Structural Design and Engineering division, strengthening its fully integrated, multi-disciplinary consultancy platform across the Middle East and enhancing ability to deliver concept-to-construction engineering solutions embedded within established sustainability and cost consultancy expertise.

Construction Business News reported that the new division integrates structural engineering, commercial advisory and sustainability strategy from the earliest stages of project development, enabling clients to achieve design-to-budget outcomes, optimise embodied carbon and reduce downstream delivery risk. The division is embedded within a broader engineering and advisory ecosystem aligning engineering decisions with capital efficiency, procurement strategy, material availability, regulatory compliance and long-term asset performance.

Saeed Al Abbar, chief executive at AESG, said the launch reinforces the company's commitment to integrated delivery across the full asset lifecycle. He noted the firm's strength has always been in combining engineering, sustainability and cost intelligence into a single advisory platform, with the structural design division strengthening that model.

Al Abbar added that across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, projects are increasing in complexity and ambition, requiring engineering strategies aligned with sustainability targets, procurement realities and financial objectives from day one. He stated this integrated approach improves certainty, reduces risk and drives stronger project performance.

Matthew Cross has been appointed director of the new division, bringing more than 25 years of experience including senior leadership roles at AECOM and Arcadis overseeing major projects across Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Dr Gavin Lume joins as technical director, bringing deep expertise in complex structural design and regional delivery and has led teams across the Middle East on major programmes including hyper-luxury Red Sea developments, with structural dynamics experience contributing to landmark projects including Burj Khalifa and Dubai Frame.
