Peterborough’s £8.3m Cygnet Bridge linking Fletton Quays to the Embankment faces delays as council officers review final designs. The cost has risen from an initial £6.3m due to design changes and complex sewer diversion requirements.

Construction is expected to start after sewer works begin, with funding drawn from the Towns Fund, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, and the city council’s redevelopment budget. The bridge aims to support a more walkable, liveable city while easing pressure on central traffic routes.
