Exolum has launched the authorisation process for a new bulk liquid terminal at the Outer Port of A Coruña, marking a major step in its strategy to lead Spain and Europe’s energy transition. The €100 million project will handle both conventional fuels and sustainable alternatives, including renewable ammonia, captured CO₂, green methanol, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and other biofuels.

Designed under stringent safety, automation, and environmental standards, the terminal will span two interconnected sites with a total storage capacity of around 165,000 m³ across 22 tanks. It will accommodate atmospheric, cryogenic, and pressurised storage for hydrocarbons, chemical products, ammonia, and CO₂. Planned operations include storage, blending, and dispatch of biodiesel, HVO, bioethanol, methanol, naphtha, SAF, and raw materials for both traditional and sustainable fuels.

Jorge Guillén, aviation and Spain network lead, emphasised that the location offers “exceptional operating conditions” with maritime access and multimodal connections. The project is expected to enhance the competitiveness of the Galician industrial sector, foster skilled job creation during construction and operation, and attract investment linked to decarbonisation and green molecule technologies.

The terminal represents a concrete step in Exolum’s commitment to developing infrastructure aligned with the evolving energy landscape, supporting Spain’s transition to a low-carbon future.
