Construction workforce surges as tech hiring slows – CSO

Ireland’s construction sector recorded an 18.4% jump in employment over the past year, according to new CSO labour force data. The surge contrasts with a slowdown in the information and communications sector, which saw headcount fall during the same period.

Overall employment in the State rose by 63,900 year-on-year to nearly 2.82 million in the 12 months to June, underscoring construction’s growing role in Ireland’s labour market resilience.
