The flagship Construction Project of the Year award recognises exceptional achievement.

You cannot formally enter this category, the recipient will be selected from the winners of the construction project categories: Commercial Project of the Year; Residential Project of the Year; Retail Project of the Year; Tourism & Hospitality Project of the Year; Health Project of the Year; Education Project of the Year; Industrial Project of the Year; Green Project of the Year and International Project of the Year.

Construction Industry Leader 2017

This award recognises the senior individual who has made a significant contribution to the construction profession in Ireland.

You cannot formally enter this category. The recipient of this award will be decided after due consideration.

Contractor of the Year

This award recognises the most outstanding contractor in Ireland over the past 12 months. Ideally the judges will be looking for skilled delivery and exemplary practice that demonstrates the ability to deliver world class outcomes on a variety of projects.

Project Management Firm of the Year

This award recognises the most outstanding project and construction management firm in Ireland over the past 12 months. Ideally the judges will be looking for skilled delivery and exemplary practice that demonstrates the ability to deliver world class outcomes on a variety of projects.

Architecture Practice of the Year

Design dictates how we use, interact and enjoy a building and ultimately determines how we value any construction. Open to all Irish registered architectural firms, this award recognises the most outstanding architects in Ireland over the past 12 months.

Engineering Firm of the Year

This category recognises the best engineering firm operating in Ireland over the last 12 months. Judges will be looking for evidence of the quality of work, commercial strength and a record of continually high levels of service.

Consultancy of the Year

This category is open to any type of construction consultancy. This may include, but is not limited to, M&E consultants, quantity surveyors, compliance consultants, project auditing consultants, IT consultants, sustainability consultants, health and safety advisors, taxation consultants, etc. Judges will be looking for evidence of commercial strength and development, and the quality of work the consultancy does for clients.

Civil Contractor of the Year

This award recognises the most outstanding civil contractor that has worked on a publicly funded infrastructure project in Ireland over the past 12 months. Judges will be looking for skilled delivery and exemplary practice that demonstrates the ability to deliver world class outcomes on a variety of projects.

Sub-Contractor of the Year

This award is open to sub-contractors of all sizes that can best demonstrate excellence over the past 12 months. Judges will be looking for evidence of commercial strength and development, and the quality of work carried out.

Construction Product of the Year

Open to manufacturers and suppliers, this award recognises the outstanding construction or building product on the Irish market. Judges will be looking for products with big potential that deliver over and beyond other similar products on the market. Note: if your product is technology based, please enter the Innovation in Construction Award.

NEW: Client Responsibility of the Year Award

This award recognises the construction industry client who has ensured that the highest standards in responsible practices were implemented during the commissioning of a construction contract completed successfully or ongoing in 2016.

Designer of the Year

This award recognises the most innovative designer working in Ireland’s construction sector. It is primarily aimed at individuals working in design consultancies and architects, but is also open to those working for in-house design teams from fit out contracting businesses too.

Project Manager of the Year

 This award recognises the people behind the projects; the Project Manager of the Year award will be presented to the individual that can best demonstrate excellence in this field over the past 12 months. This category could go to an in-house project manager working for a contractor; it could be awarded to an in-house client project manager; or to an independent project manager working for a consultancy firm.

Commercial Project of the Year

This award recognises excellence in a construction project for offices and business spaces which are not retail in nature. This may include office blocks, service centres, airport terminal buildings, farming, warehousing and can be either a new build or an extension to an existing building.

Residential Project of the Year

This award recognises excellence in the construction of a residential property on the island of Ireland. These properties may be a new build or an extension to any existing property and can include single houses, housing developments, housing estates, apartments and social housing.

Retail Project of the Year

This award recognises excellence in the construction of a retail project. This may include shops or any form of retail developments, where the primary purpose is direct to customer services. Retail covers all type of shopping facility from stand-alone individual shop units to large shopping malls and supermarkets. Bank premises and similar high street outlets are also classified as retail, as are petrol forecourts.

Tourism & Hospitality Project of the Year

This award recognises excellence in the construction of a tourism or hospitality building. This may include any building or development in the tourism, visitor or leisure space, including visitor centres, hotels, swimming pools, golf clubs, stadiums, pubs, restaurants and night clubs. The sector also includes cinemas, theatres, bowling centres, health clubs and spas, conference centres, museums, galleries, holiday centres, casinos, sports complexes and even zoos!

Health Project of the Year

This award recognises excellence in the construction of a Healthcare facility. This includes Hospitals, Dental Practices, Community Healthcare facilities, Health Centres, Psychiatric Hospitals, Healthcare Laboratories, Day Centres, Mental Health and Community Nursing units.

Education Project of the Year

This award recognises excellence in the construction of an Education facility on the island of Ireland. This includes new builds and extensions for pre-schools, schools, universities and colleges, either public or private.

Conservation Project of the Year

This award recognises the conservation, restoration or heritage project undertaken in Ireland over the past 12 months that can best demonstrate excellence.

Industrial Project of the Year

This award recognises excellence in a construction project that is industrial in nature, whether new build or an extension to an existing building. Industrial buildings of all descriptions are eligible - whether they are factories, data centres, mills, laboratories or any other building project relating to industry.

Green Project of the Year

This award recognises the most interesting sustainable building project completed in Ireland over the past 12 months. This category is open to all residential or non-residential buildings or developments – including houses, apartments, offices, health, educational, leisure, hotels, industrial and public sector.

International Project of the Year

Sponsored by: Daksta

This award recognises any strategic international project undertaken abroad by an Irish-based contractor, project management firm, consultant or major supplier. Note: the whole team does not need to be based in Ireland; the project is eligible so long as one of the key contributors are registered here.

BIM Initiative of the Year

Sponsored by: Crown Roofing

This award recognises the organisation that has gone the extra mile to integrate BIM into the everyday fabric of their business. Judges will be looking for evidence of quality of work, the level of buy in from management and staff and the tangible benefits to the organisation.

Innovation in Construction

This award is open to any organisation in Ireland’s construction sector that has developed a new technology, service or process that has made a positive contribution to their organisation or the construction industry as a whole. This can include software, innovative services or construction methods which have resulted in a benefit to a project, or also through a change process within an organisation.

Excellence in Sustainability

This award recognises the organisation working in Ireland’s construction sector that can best demonstrate a commitment to sustainability. This can be through a reduced carbon footprint, a change process within the organisation, a new partnership that demonstrates tangible evidence of environmental benefit or the use of energy saving products and methods.

Excellence in Health & Safety

The award recognises the organisation in Ireland’s construction sector that has delivered the best health and safety initiative over the last 12 months. Entries may be made for best practice in health and safety, compliance to standards, training or technical and behavioural improvements. It could also be a product designed to improve health and safety practices or a completed construction project with an exemplary health and safety record.

NEW: Excellence in Education & Training

This award recognises the Irish-based third level institution, technical training college or organisation that can best demonstrate excellence in the delivery and development of knowledge or skills in the construction industry.
